On June 22, 2026, Southwest Airlines rolled out Starlink internet connectivity on a commercial flight for the first time.

The first Southwest Starlink-equipped Boeing 737-800 (registration N8543Z) operated a flight between Dallas-Love Field (DAL) and Albuquerque (ABQ), New Mexico.

In February 2026 the low-cost carrier announced that it had signed a deal with SpaceX to equip its aircraft with this novel form of inflight broadband, which uses a constellation of thousands of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites to deliver high-speed internet service to moving aircraft.

“Starting with this first aircraft, we will be rapidly integrating Starlink into our fleet this year. This ultra-fast WiFi brings an at-home experience to the air and redefines how Customers can stay connected, be productive, and make the most of their time while flying at 35,000 feet,” stated Tony Roach, Southwest Airlines’ Chief Customer & Brand Officer, in a press release.

Southwest Airlines expects to complete the installation of Starlink terminals on 300 of its aircraft before the end of 2026. The rest of the fleet, approximately 500 additional aircraft, may be fitted with the system at a later date.

Access to Starlink internet connectivity will be offered for free to members of Southwest’s Rapid Rewards frequent flyer program.
