All Nippon Airways (ANA) has announced it will unveil a specially painted “Red Pokemon Jet” at the end of July 2026 to mark the 30th anniversary of its partnership with The Pokemon Company.

The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 with registration JA819A, will be revealed at an event on July 28, 2026, at the ANA Airframe Maintenance Building at Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo.

Regular domestic service for the aircraft is scheduled to begin the following day.

Fire-type Pokemon take flight

The livery features Fire-type Pokemon characters from across the series.

ANA said the design is the first phase of its ANA x Pokémon 30th Anniversary Special Project, with two more themed aircraft to follow.

The airline plans to introduce a “Green Pokemon Jet” and a “Blue Pokemon Jet” at a later date, though specific timelines have not yet been announced.

Inaugural flights

The Red Pokémon Jet will enter service on July 29, 2026, operating between Haneda Airport and Fukuoka Airport (FUK).

The inaugural flight, NH243, will depart Haneda at 08:15 local time and arrive in Fukuoka at 10:00 local time. The aircraft will operate multiple roundtrips on the route throughout the day.

ANA noted that the operating aircraft may be subject to change due to operational conditions.

Lottery for unveiling event

The airline said that ANA Mileage Club members can apply for a chance to attend the unveiling ceremony, with 80 spots available through a lottery. Applications opened on July 1, 2026, and will close on July 12 at 23:59 Japan Standard Time.

The collaboration between ANA and Pokémon dates back to 1996. ANA has operated various Pokemon-themed aircraft over the years as part of the partnership, which has become one of the longest-running airline branding collaborations in Japan.
