Saudi low-cost carrier flynas agreed to firm up an order for five Airbus A330-900neo and 20 A321neo aircraft on July 22, 2026, during the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow.
The order has not come as a surprise after Bloomberg and several other media outlets had reported that it was likely flynas would exercise some of its outstanding options.
The options that flynas has now firmed appear to be part of the large order placed by the Saudi carrier at Farnborough 2024, which includes 15 A330-900neo firm orders plus 15 options and 75 A320neo-family firm orders and 55 options.
The latest order takes flynas’ confirmed order book with Airbus to 235 aircraft, including 20 A330-900neo and 56 A321neo aircraft. The remainder are all A320s.
“This step is aimed at ensuring the sustainable growth of the flynas fleet over the coming years to support the continued expansion of our six operating bases across the Kingdom, while also strengthening our operational and expansion capabilities for flynas Syria,” said Bander Almohanna, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of flynas in a press release announcing the deal.
This fleet expansion is aligned with Saudi Arabia’s strategic goal of continuing to boost its airline industry in order to become one of the world’s top tourist destinations.
