In Spain, a drone delivered a life jacket to a drowning boy, keeping him afloat until his rescue.

The incident occurred on the Puerto de Sagunto beach, near Valencia, on July 1, 2022. The 14-year-old teenager was dragged away from the coast by waves and strong currents when a drone pilot spotted him.

The pilot of the unmanned system managed to drop a life jacket for the exhausted boy. A team of jet-ski rescuers then managed to retrieve him.

Sagunto was the world’s first city to use the surveillance and rescue services offered by the Valencia-based company General Drones back in 2017. More Spanish beaches have since adopted the solution.
