Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) is restoring more services, getting closer to pre-pandemic capacity, including thanks to travel demand bouncing back.
The flag carrier said it will restore its Indian network to pre-COVID levels by the end of October 2022, plus increase services to points in Japan. Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) also said it will add more flights to Los Angeles and Paris by December 2022, as well as extend direct Vancouver services over the winter season.
Overall, the additions will mean the Singapore Airlines Group, which includes low-cost unit Scoot, will reach 81% of pre-pandemic levels by the end of December 2022, Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) said in a statement on July 5, 2022.
When announcing full-year financial results in May, Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) said it expected group capacity to reach 61% of pre-COVID levels in its fiscal first quarter (to the end of June) and 67% in the second quarter.
JoAnn Tan, Senior Vice President Marketing Planning, described Japan as a key market for the group and said Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) was seeing “robust demand” for travel to and from India.
“The SIA Group will closely monitor the demand for air travel and adjust its services accordingly,” Tan commented
Singapore’s Changi Airport, which is in the process of reopening parts of the hub, expects passenger traffic to recover to pre-pandemic levels in winter 2022/23.
