Air Greenland received its first Airbus A330-800neo when the manufacturer delivered the jet on December 7, 2022.

The newly delivered wide-body aircraft will replace its older Airbus A330-300, which is more than 24 years old. The A330-800neo, registered as OY-GKN, departed Toulouse Blagnac Airport (TLS) towards its home base Kangerlussuaq Airport (SFJ) in Greenland at 12:02 PM local time (GMT +1). It is scheduled to arrive at the settlement at 1:25 PM local time (GMT -3).

Air Greenland’s A330-800neo will accommodate 305 passengers in a two-class layout: 42 Premium and 263 Economy seats have been placed on the aircraft. In addition to the aircraft delivery, the two companies approved a Flight Hour Services (FHS) agreement, covering component supplies and maintenance services for the Greenland-based carrier.

The twin-engine jet will first be deployed on routes to Denmark, with other flights to Europe as well as North America to be announced at a later date.

Furthermore, Airbus indicated that the aircraft used 30% of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) on its way to SFJ.

Apart from the single Airbus A330-800neo, the airline also operates seven De Havilland Canada DHC-8 Dash 8 turboprops.
