Two Qatar Airways planes collided on the ground in Doha, Qatar, on April 30, 2020. The culprit of the incident appears to be a storm, as the winds gusts, reaching up to 110 km/h (61 knots), pushed a Boeing 787 out of its parking place. The Dreamliner hit the right-hand forward fuselage of an Airbus A350XWB, which was parked nearby.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, registration number A7-BCT, arrived at the Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) from Delhi (flight QR7486) on the previous day. April 29. The airliner is five years old, delivered to the Qatari airline in February 2015.

The Airbus A350-900 (registration number A7-ALJ), had been stored at the time of the incident, and did not operate any flights within the previous seven days. The aircraft was delivered to the airline four years ago, in August 2016.

Both aircraft were reportedly damaged during the impact. The incident was caught on the airport’s security camera.

Earlier in April 2020, British Airways Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, the first of the type ever delivered to the airline, collided on the ground with Emirates Boeing 777-300 as it was being pushed back in Dubai International Airport (DXB), the UAE.

Similar incident also took place in Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), where Cathay Pacific Airbus A350-900 collided with a parked Boeing 777-300ER. Both aircraft sustained damage.

Meanwhile, for Qatar Airways this is also not the first time in April when its aircraft is involved in an incident. The Gulf carrier’s Boeing 777 suffered a bird strike while landing in Tunisia on April 21, 2020.
