Latvian airline airBaltic received a new Airbus A220-300 on April 27, 2019. The aircraft, registration number YL-AAQ, it the airline’s 17th A220, with five more to come by the end of 2019.
airBaltic is ending Boeing 737 fleet operations in autumn 2019 – one year ahead of the original plan, to “benefit from the additional efficiency of the Airbus A220-300 aircraft”. In fact, the airline claims to be more than satisfied with its A220s that have “performed beyond the company’s expectations, delivering better overall performance, fuel efficiency and convenience for both passengers and staff”. After the last Boeing 737 leaves airBaltic fleet, the A220 will be the only aircraft type in the carrier’s fleet.
airBaltic took delivery of its first A220, known as Bombardier CS300, in November 2016.
