Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) (SIA) continues to expand its non-stop services, focusing on the Southeast Asia-U.S. market. The flag carrier has launched the first non-stop flight from Seattle, Washington, to Singapore, operated by Airbus A350 XWB, the airline’s go-to aircraft for non-stop services.

Flight SQ28 departed the Singapore Changi International Airport (SIN) in the early morning hours on September 3, 2019, headed to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) where it landed at 8:58 AM (U.S. Pacific time) on the same day, as flight tracking website flightaware.com indicates.

The Seattle flights, the carrier’s fourth U.S. destination, will initially be operated three times weekly with plans to expand to a four times per week service in October 2019. Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) already offers direct flights to Los Angeles, New York (Newark) and San Francisco.

SIA’s new non-stop Seattle-Singapore services will be operated with the Airbus A350 XWB, the airline’s aircraft of choice for flights to the U.S. The inaugural flight was served by the carrier’s new A350-900 (registration 9V-SMV), delivered to SIA in July 2019, according to planespotters.net data. Airbus’ latest figures (as of July 31, 2019) indicate that SIA has another 29 A350-900s on order.

Out of SIA’s four U.S. destinations, its non-stop Singapore-New York service is currently the world’s longest commercial flight. The airline re-launched the service on October 11, 2018. Operated by an A350-900ULR (Ultra Long Range) the inaugural flight covered about 9,500 miles (15,289 km), lasting 17 hours and 52 minutes. The launch flight between Singapore and Seattle covered around 8,307 miles (13,369 km) with flight time of 14 hours and 31 minutes, according flightaware.com data.
