Qatar Airways Boeing 777 collides with seagull
Qatar Airways Boeing 777 aircraft, carrying 243 passengers on board, encountered a bird strike as it was landing in Tunisia on April 21, 2020.
On the day, the airline was operating a repatriation flight QR3273, which took off from Doha Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH), Qatar. After over five hours in the air, the 777-300 wide-body (registered as A7-BAP) was arriving at the destination in Tunis Carthage International Airport (TUN) in Tunisia.
During the final landing phase, at 7 pm local time, the captain informed the tower that they encountered a bird strike. After inspection, the body of a seagull was found on a runway.
The initial inspection found no damage to the aircraft. Due to the incident, the return flight from Tunis to Doha was delayed. The information was revealed by the Tunisian Civil Aviation and Airports Office (OACA) on April 21, 2020.
Before the coronavirus crisis, Qatar Airways operated the route between Doha and Tunis twice a week, using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. However, the scheduled passenger service has since been cancelled
