American Airlines (A1G) (AAL) flight AA387 from Guadalajara to Dallas, United States, declared Mayday after losing one of the aircraft engines on June 4, 2020.

The airline’s Airbus A319 took off from Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) in Mexico at 19.05 UTC. The airliner was scheduled to arrive at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), United States two hours later.

However, as the aircraft was climbing out of Guadalajara, the flight crew experienced problems with the right engine – the pilots reported that they lost it, according to the Aviation Herald.

Declaring “Mayday Mayday Mayday”, the pilots turned around to GDL, where they landed safely approximately 35 minutes after departure.

The aircraft involved in the incident is 17-years’ old Airbus A319, registration number N772XF, powered by two CFM International CFM56 engines. American Airlines (A1G) (AAL) (AA) is the second operator of the aircraft. From June 2003 until March 2018 it flew as part of Frontier Airlines fleet, until being leased and delivered to AA in October 2018.

At the moment, 17 hours later, the narrow-body remains in Guadalajara, Flgihtradar24.com data shows.
