Lithuanian airport rolls out pink carpet of soup

Vilnius International Airport (VNO), Lithuania, rolls out another unusual initiative. As of June 29, 2020, the airport welcomes its visitors with a “pink carpet” ‒ a trail of pink-colored spots on the ground that allude to the country’s national soup.

The incoming passengers in VNO will find themselves following a trail of pink-colored spots on the floor, which ends at an Instagrammable 10-foot replica of the country’s national šaltibarščiai soup. The beet-based dish, frequently referred to as “pink soup” by foreign visitors, is of a distinct color that the country is aiming to coin as “cold pink”.

Vilnius International Airport is known for unusual initiatives. In December 2019, the airport displayed a Christmas tree constructed of objects confiscated by its security (mostly scissors):
