Embraer introduces medical evacuation-modified Phenom 300MED
Embraer, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, introduced a new medical evacuation (Medevac) solution with its modification of the Phenom 300E private jet.
The five-seater single-pilot aircraft was converted into the Phenom 300MED jointly by Embraer, umlaut, and Aerolite.
The development and certification of the jet are still in progress, as the Brazil-based aerospace company partnered with umlaut to put the Phenom 300MED into the market, utilizing the equipment provided by Aerolite.
Equipment on board the 300MED will be installed by Embraer’s Services & Support company and is already available for customers to order. The aircraft will be equipped with either one or two stretchers, be able to carry an incubator, and any additional medical equipment to meet the needs of healthcare providers and patients.
“Given the current health crisis, we are proud to be working with two world-class Medevac-solutions partners, and we are primed to immediately start taking orders for this unprecedented air ambulance solution,” stated the chief executive of Embraer’s Executive Jets Michael Amalfitano.
The Phenom 300 can seat up to five passengers in its regular configuration and fly up to 2,010 nautical miles (3,724 km). First announced in 2005, the private jet received substantial upgrades throughout the years, including the latest Phenom 300E version, announced in January 2020. The upgrades included improvements to its Pratt & Whitney PW535E1 engines and avionics on board the aircraft.
