Rex to lease six Boeing 737 NG under PAG Asia Capital investment
Regional Express, an Australian regional airline, has signed leasing agreements with two Lessors for six Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft after receiving funding from PAG Asia Capital.
Three of the jets will be deployed on the Sydney-Melbourne route on March 1, 2021, according to the company’s statement. At the same time, Rex hopes to boost its 737 NG fleet by an additional four by the end of 2021.
According to Rex, the airline will receive its first 737 NG aircraft on November 1, 2020, while the five remaining leased jets will arrive over the following four months until February.
The domestic jet operation was made possible after the carrier signed “a long-form term sheet with the investment firm PAG Asia Capital,” the statement said.
Rex hopes to obtain regulatory approval for operations in December, with ticket sales for regional flights in Australia to begin around the same time.
