Qatar Airways and Air Canada sign codeshare agreement

Qatar Airways signed a codeshare agreement with Air Canada (ADH2) for air travel between Doha, Qatar, and Toronto, Canada. According to the state-owned flag carrier of Qatar, the first codeshare flights would start on December 15, 2020.

The agreement between the two airlines was concluded on November 18, 2020. According to Qatar Airways, it would allow Canadian passengers, namely, Air Canada (ADH2) passengers, to book travel on its flights between Toronto and Doha as well as for more than 75 destinations in Asia, Africa, and the region of the Middle East.

“We are delighted to secure this strategic codeshare agreement with Air Canada (ADH2) to provide our travelers with a seamless journey to and from Toronto with excellence in state-of-the-art and sustainable aircraft, safety, comfort, and onboard service“,  Akbar Al Baker, the Chief Executive of Qatar Airways, is cited in a press release.

Qatar Airways launched Canada’s destination back in June 2011. Initially, the air carrier operated Montreal flights with a frequency of three flights a week. Then, in December 2018, the airline expanded the initial rate to four regular flights per week. 

Following the statement, after reaching an agreement with Air Canada (ADH2), Qatar Airways expects to restore its former network of a total of 126 destinations including 28 Europe routes, 42 destinations in the Asia-Pacific region, 15 routes in the Middle East, 11 in the US, as well as 20 routes in Africa.
