Two Vistara flights were forced to divert to Mumbai and Kolkata due to bad weather conditions, announced the Indian air carrier.
The first incident occurred on December 14, 2020. Vistara Airbus A320, registered as VT-TNQ, was performing a domestic flight from Delhi Airport (DEL) to Bagdogra International Airport (IXB). According to the flight record on FlightRadar24.com, the A320 took off from DEL airport at 7:20 a.m (GMT +5:30) for the regular flight UK725. It was supposed to land at IXB airport but due to bad weather conditions in Bagdogra, the plane was diverted to Kolkata airport (CCU).
After a few hours spent at CCU airport, the diverted flight departed from Kolkata at 12:34 p.m (GMT +5:30) and reached its initial destination at IXB airport at 1:23 p.m (GMT +5:30), announced Vistara on social media. However, it was not the only incident for the airline.

The same day, another Vistara Airbus A320 flight was disrupted. The aircraft, registered as VT-TTM, was en route from Delhi (DEL) to Pune (PNQ), India, when the flight crew decided to divert to Mumbai (BOM). According to Vistara’s announcement on social media, flight UK971, which departed at 10:45 a.m (GMT +5:30) from Delhi, was estimated to land at 12:40 p.m. (GMT +5:30) at PNQ airport, but “due to poor visibility“, it was diverted to BOM airport, as written in the airline’s statement. The aircraft was still on the ground at BOM airport a few hours after landing, showed FlightRadar24.com.

Repetitive diverts and multiple domestic flight cancelations are related to the severe impact of an ongoing snowfall in the region.
