On January 18, 2021, two senior management employees of China Eastern Airlines (CIAH) (CEA) resigned from their positions.

China Eastern Airlines (CIAH) (CEA) vice president Jiang Jiang resigned from his position due to “work arrangements”. However, Jiang will continue to be an employee representative director of China Eastern Airlines (CIAH) (CEA).

According to China Eastern Airlines (CIAH) (CEA) statement, Jiang Jiang started his career path at China Eastern in 1999, joining as deputy manager in the flight division. In 2016, Jiang became China Eastern’s general director and  the vice president in 2017.

China Eastern Airlines (CIAH) (CEA) has appointed two candidates to fill the vice president’s role: Zhou Qimin and Xi Sheng. Before taking up Jiang’s position, Zhou worked at Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) as the head of the financial department.

Xi, who was appointed to the role of vice president at China Eastern on January 18, 2021, resigned from chairman of the supervisory committee position on the same day due to “adjustments on duties of works”.

China Eastern appointed Guo Lijun in order to replace Xi’s role in the supervisory committee. Guo, before taking up the position in the supervisory committee, was the chief economist at the airline.
