On February 3, 2021, Air Lease Corporation (ALC) announced it would deliver two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to Canada’s low-cost carrier Sunwing Airlines.

“ALC is pleased to announce these two new Boeing 737-8 deliveries to Sunwing Airlines today,” John L. Plueger, the CEO of Air Lease Corporation (ALC), said in a statement.

“These aircraft mark ALC’s first 737-8 deliveries since the grounding and will provide state-of-the-art efficiency, cabin comfort, and advancement of Sunwing’s environmental sustainability initiatives,” Plueger added.

New aircraft, featuring FCM international LEAP-1B27 engines, would be the third and the fourth Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft delivered to Sunwing Airlines from ALC order book with Boeing.

“We thank ALC for the delivery of two new Boeing 737-8 aircraft, and look forward to integrating them into our existing fleet,” Chief Executive Officer at Sunwing Airlines Mark Williams said, adding that the new airplanes would provide advanced technology and fuel efficiency to Sunwing operations.

Currently, Sunwing Airlines has two Boeing 737-800s and two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which ALC has recently begun to call the Boeing 737-8.
