A Rossiya Boeing 777 was forced to make an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) in Moscow, Russia, after reporting an engine problem. The aircraft was performing flight FV4520 from Chek Lap Kok International Airport (HKG) in Hong Kong.
As the flight was approaching its destination, the flight crew reported a failure of the control channel in the left-hand engine and requested an emergency landing, according to Interfax.
The aircraft managed to land safely at Sheremetyevo Airport. No injuries or damage were reported.
The 15-year-old Boeing 777-31HER, registered as EI-GET, is powered by General Electric GE90-115B engines. Thus, this incident is unrelated to the engine failure that took place over Denver on February 22, 2021, and involved a Boeing 777 powered by Pratt & Whitney PW4000-112 engines.
