A Romanian low-cost carrier Blue Air plans to launch the first-ever direct international operations from Iasi, Romania, to London Heathrow, the United Kingdom.
Blue Air has scheduled the launch of the first 3 weekly ultra-low-cost services between Iasi International Airport (IAS) to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) on May 18, 2021. The new international route will be regularly operated every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and will become the first non-stop service between Iasi and London Heathrow, according to Blue Air.
“We are delighted to announce the first-ever ultra-low fare direct service from Iasi to London Heathrow, the most important airport in the UK and one of the best-connected hubs in Europe and in the world, and to offer our customers in Iasi reliable links to 14 key domestic and international destinations,“ Krassmir Tanev, the Chief Commercial Officer at Blue Air, was quoted in the airline‘s statement.
Blue Air has already been serving a number of Romanian cities to various UK airports including Birmingham (BHX), Glasgow (GLA), Liverpool (LPL), and London Luton (LTN). In summer 2021, the airline is also planning 14 new destinations, both domestic and international. From Romania, the ULCC plans a direct route to Bucharest (OTP), as well as connecting flights to Amsterdam (AMS), Athens (ATH), Brussels (BRU), Cluj Napoca (CLJ), Larnaca (LCA), Madrid (MAD), Milan (LIN), Munich (MUC), Paris (CDG), Rome (FCO), Stuttgart (STR), and Timisoara (TSR).
According to the Planespotters.com data, the airline’s fleet consists of 18 Boeing 737 aircraft an average age of which is 21.6 years. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the air carrier has temporarily parked half of its jets.
