UAE flag carrier Emirates is celebrating its home country’s 50th anniversary with a new livery denoting the long history of the airline.

The first aircraft adorned with the new decorations, Airbus A380 no. A6EVG, was rolled out in Frankfurt recently.

The livery adds a large “50” to the usual color scheme of the airline, as well as the words “United Arab” to the plane’s usual “Emirates” sticker in Arab and English, making the the connection between the carrier and the state it represents.

“The Golden Jubilee themed aircraft are inspired by the vision, determination and passion of the UAE’s founding fathers and the incredible 50-year journey since they started to shape a nation that has captured the world’s imagination – from its rapid progress to become one of the most connected countries in the world, to being one of just a few nations to launch a space mission,” Emirates Chairman and CEO  Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum comments in a press release.
