Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air says it wants to hire 800 flight attendants by the end of 2021, adding to a slew of hiring at the company.
Most of the company’s events to recruit cabin crew are being held in Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and other Central and Eastern European states, indicating a focus on expanding in that direction.
The new campaign follows up on previous expansion announcements. In early August the airline said that it wants to hire 4,600 pilots, with plans to welcome 300 pilots by the end of 2021.
The cabin crew hiring drive, announced on August 20, 2021, comes amidst plans by Wizz Air to triple the size of its fleet by adding 500 new Airbus aircraft in the coming decade.
Despite reporting losses for the first quarter of the 2021 financial year, the company, like other airlines, has observed a surge in passenger demand this summer, boosting revenues.
According to Wizz Air President Robert Carey, the low-cost carrier exceeded its pre-COVID capacity in August and is also seeking to expand into Africa and central Asia.
