Emirates is boosting flights across Europe in response to rising travel demand, it announces on August 24, 2021.
“With clear signals that passenger confidence for international travel is returning, the airline is advancing its plans to increase services and capacity to make it easier for its customers to connect to and from its extensive European network via Dubai,” the Dubai-based carrier says in a statement.
In the UK, it will reinstate flights to Newcastle (NCL) from October 15, offering four flights a week operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
It plans to have 77 flights a week to various destinations in the UK as it rebuilds its network following the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has also brought forward plans to introduce extra flights and capacity to over 10 European cities, including Barcelona, Brussels, London, Madrid, Rome, and Zurich.
In addition, routes to the German cities of Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Munich will become daily flights by October 31. Flights from Dubai to Dusseldorf and Hamburg will also be upgraded to the Airbus A380.
Beyond Europe, Emirates is planning to resume flights between Male and Colombo from September 1, and plans to increase frequencies between Male and Dubai by mid-October. It will also up frequencies on routes to Muscat, Oman, and Sao Paulo.
Emirates notes it has recovered close to 90% of its pre-pandemic network.
