Taiwan’s Starlux Airlines to start Singapore route in September 2021

Taipei-based Starlux Airlines will launch flights from Taipei to Singapore starting September 23, 2021. This comes after Singapore announced the easing of restrictions on Taiwanese passengers. They can now apply for an air travel pass if they have been in Taiwan for at least 21 consecutive days.

Starlux Airlines’ Singapore route will begin with two weekly round-trip flights from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and Changi International Airport every Tuesday and Thursday. And as part of its plan to expand into the Southeast Asian market, a third Taipei to Singapore flight will be added on Saturdays starting October of 2021.

The airline said that in addition to Singapore being a popular Southeast Asian tourist destination for Taiwanese, it is also an important economic and aviation hub for Asia. Starlux also aims to serve business travellers and Taiwanese expatriates in Singapore. They are planning on eventually servicing the air cargo market between Taiwan and Singapore.

Starlux Airlines was founded in May 2018 and the Taipei – Singapore service will be their ninth route. The airline currently flies to Macau, Penang, Bangkok, Tokyo, Osaka, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City and Manila. All their flights are operated using its Airbus 321neo fleet.
