The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) ungrounded the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on September 6, 2021.
Singapore is the latest Asian state to have ungrounded the Boeing 737 MAX, following Malaysia and India.
The CAAS said the Boeing 737 MAX operators would have to comply with the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airworthiness Directive2020-24-02 to be eligible to conduct operations in Singapore airspace.
Operators will also have to ensure that the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft crew are trained according to the training program approved by the Singaporean Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
SilkAir is the only airline based in Singapore, having six Boeing 737 MAXs in its fleet.
Boeing is yet to receive a green light from one of the biggest aviation markets in Asia ‒ China. The US-based airframer conducted test flights with the country’s civil aviation authority for its 737 MAX recertification on August 11, 2021, but has not yet received approval.
