Breeze Airways confirms order for 20 additional A220s
Breeze Airways confirmed it will purchase 20 additional A220 aircraft from Airbus, taking its total order book to 80 of the aircraft.
The news came as the airline unveiled its livery for the first of its A220 jets, fresh off Airbus’ Mobile final assembly line in Alabama, the United States.
Breeze’s first A220 is due to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2021 and it intends to start operating flights with the aircraft in the second quarter of 2022, Airbus said in a statement on September 13, 2021. Airbus plans to deliver on average one A220 per month to the US airline over the next six and a half years.
The order for 20 A220 aircraft was previously undisclosed, but had been expected after an earlier update to the Airbus order book this year showed another 20 A220s with an unnamed buyer.
Breeze Airways started airline operations in May 2021. It is operating a fleet of 10 Embraer E190s and 3 E195s
