Indian airline SpiceJet says it reached a settlement with lessor CDB Aviation over Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which will allow it to expand its fleet of MAX aircraft.
SpiceJet made the announcement in a statement to the stock exchange on September 13, 2021. The carrier had reached a settlement with another lessor, Avolon, on August 26, 2021.
“This will add to already announced settlement with Avolon and grow its fleet of 737 MAX aircraft,” SpiceJet said in the latest announcement.
SpiceJet added that it expects to start operating MAX aircraft towards the end of September 2021, “subject to regulatory approvals.”
The Indian aviation authority lifted the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX on August 26, 2021, after grounding the aircraft on March 13, 20219 following the two fatal Lion Air and Ethiopian crashes.
SpiceJet’s website shows it has a fleet of 13 737 MAX-8 aircraft, seating 189 passengers in a single class configuration.
