The Indian aviation authority has extended the ban on scheduled international flight operations to and from the country until October 31, 2021.

“In partial modification of circular dated June 26, 2020, the competent authority has further extended validity of circular issued on the subject cited above regarding scheduled international commercial passenger services to/from India till 23:59 hrs IST of October 31, 2021,” stated a circular released by the Indian aviation regulator on September 28, 2021.

Exceptions are made to flights approved explicitly by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of India and international freighter operations.

The Indian government imposed a ban on international travel in March 2020. Since then, it has been prolonged by almost 19 months, including the most recent order.
