Emirates and Qantas extend partnership until 2028

Emirates and Qantas will extend their code partnership for another five years, meaning customers of both airlines will have access to an extensive international network.

The codeshare agreement between both airlines, due to end in 2023, will be extended until 2028 with a possibility to renew it for another five years beyond that.

For Emirates customers, the partnership will provide access to 55 Australian destinations, while Qantas customers will have access to over 50 cities stretched across the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa.

According to both airlines, the extension of this partnership will help to deliver “financial upside” both for Emirates and Qantas.

“As borders reopen, we look forward to restoring our Australian flight schedules including our popular A380 services, and to welcoming customers to experience our best-in-class partnership for many more years to come,” Sir Tim Clark, the President of Emirates, was quoted in a statement released on October 4, 2021.

Emirates and Qantas first announced their partnership in 2013. Since then, more than 13 million passengers have traveled on their joint network.

“We know the international aviation market will take years to fully recover so close collaboration between airline partners is going to be more important than ever,” Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce remarked.
