Spirit Airlines inks deal for lease of 20 Airbus A320neos
American ultra low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines (S64) (SAVE) will expand its fleet by leasing 20 additional Airbus A320neo aircraft from Irish lessor AerCap. The new Airbus A320neos are scheduled to arrive from 2022 with deliveries continuing through 2023 and 2024.
The new aircraft deliveries will help the carrier to achieve “previously announced capacity plans for 2022 and 2023, and our targeted growth in 2024”, which includes fleet and network expansion, according to Spirit Airlines (S64) (SAVE).
"The Airbus A320neo Family will help Spirit grow their fleet in an economical way while advancing its commitment to maintain a highly competitive, fuel-efficient fleet of aircraft equipped with engines that have lower carbon emissions than previous-generation engines,” AerCap CEO , Aengus Kelly commented in a statement dated October 7, 2021.
In September 2021, Spirit inked a deal with Air Lease Corporation (ALC) for the lease of ten Airbus A321 and five new Airbus A320neo aircraft.
