The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) added four new countries and areas in Europe to its Level 4 travel alert category, the highest risk assessment level for COVID-19.
The four new countries and regions to make it to the CDC’s Level 4 list on November 15, 2021 are: the Czech Republic, Guernsey, Hungary and Iceland. That makes 11 European countries added to the “avoid travel” list in the past four weeks.
A Level 4 ‘avoid travel’ alert signifies that a country is reporting more than 500 new Covid-19 infections per 28 days per 100,000 people. CDC warns Americans to “Avoid travel to these destinations. If you must travel to these destinations, make sure you are fully vaccinated before travel.”
COVID-19 cases have been on the rise in Western Europe in the past week, and the addition of four European countries to the CDC level 4 alert is an indication of this. Other European countries that are currently in the level 4 alert list of CDC are: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Greece, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
