British low-cost carrier easyJet started the recruitment process for 1,500 seasonal cabin crew members to fly next summer.
The drive comes as easyJet prepares to cover the expected rise in demand for passenger flights during summer 2022. The seasonal flight attendants will fly on summer flights from March until October 2022.
During the coming weeks, the airline, whose headquarters are based at London Luton Airport, also plans to begin the recruitment drive for experienced Airbus flight crew for operations across Europe.
“With the recovery underway, we are ready and able to seize opportunities and our seasonal crew is integral to this. [..] We are proud to have been delighted with the overwhelming response so far with more than 11,000 applicants for the 1500 crew roles,” said Johan Lundgren, the chief executive officer of easyJet.
Meanwhile, the company also aims to increase the number of its flight crew.
EasyJet is also set to resume its cadet program, which, between January and April 2022, is estimated to employ 150 newly-qualified cadet pilots. These pilots were originally due to join the airline, but the program was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lundgren added: “We are particularly pleased that, in line with our commitment to them, we will see many cadet pilots finally join us after they were delayed by the onset of the pandemic.”
EasyJet also expects to expand its UK fleet with three more aircraft to serve Bristol (BRS) and Manchester (MAN) during the summer 2022 season.
