Both Airbus and Boeing have announced their orders and deliveries data for January 2022. But which company led the way in the first month of 2022?

In terms of aircraft deliveries in January 2022, Boeing surpassed Airbus, having delivered two aircraft more than its rival.

Boeing handed over 27 737 MAXs, two Boeing 767-2Cs, two Boeing 737-800As, and one Boeing 777 freighter. Meanwhile, Airbus’s deliveries consisted of 13 Airbus A320neos, 11 Airbus A321neos, four Airbus A350-900s, and two Airbus A220-100 jets.

When it comes to aircraft orders, Boeing clearly had the upper hand compared to Airbus. Boeing logged 77 gross orders in January 2022, while Airbus won 36 aircraft orders.

Boeing’s orders are made up of 55 737 MAXs, 14 Boeing 777X, and eight Boeing 777 freighters. In late January 2022, Boeing has launched the highly anticipated freighter version of its 777X aircraft with an order from Qatar Airways. The carrier placed a firm order for 34 Boeing 777X freighters with options for 16 more.

Airbus has won 20 Airbus A220-300, eight Airbus A321neo, six Airbus A320neo, and two Airbus A220-100 aircraft orders.

The European planemaker has also revoked two Airbus A350-1000 orders for Qatar Airways amid the rift concerning flaws on the surface of its A350s. Airbus also reported 50 Airbus A321neos cancellations in January 2022 orders and deliveries summary.
