Flights from Singapore to Hong Kong with Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) are temporarily suspended from the 16th of February until March 1, 2022.
The directive came from Hong Kong officials after Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) passengers, who initially tested negative from COVID-19 from pre-departure testing, eventually tested positive for COVID-19 on arrival in Hong Kong, an airline spokesperson told Channel News Asia.
In a statement, Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) said it will suspend SQ882 and SQ894 , its two daily passenger services from Singapore to Hong Kong to comply with regulatory requirements from Hong Kong authorities.
The airline’s twice-daily Hong Kong to Singapore flight services, SQ883 and SQ895, are not affected.
The airline said that it is reaching out to affected customers to offer all necessary assistance, and to minimize the inconvenience caused by this disruption.
Despite travel borders easing around the Asia Pacific region, Hong Kong maintains a strict stance on border restrictions, and has regularly practiced temporary suspension of flights from various airlines as part of its COVID-19-curbing strategies. As of the 17th of February 2022, the HK government has reported 48 new COVID-19 cases.
