Russia’s second-largest airline S7 Airlines announced that it will be canceling all international flights from March 5, 2022.
The company posted the announcement on its Telegram account.
“Affected passengers are receiving notifications from the airline, our specialists are working with them in the representative offices of S7 Airlines. They are helping the tourists to return home on the flights of our partners,” the airline added.
Since February 24, 2022, when Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, S7 has been steadily reducing its network. Flights to Ukraine and adjacent regions were canceled on the first day of the invasion, and flights to various European countries stopped following the announcement of numerous Russian sanctions imposed in the days that followed.
S7 Airlines is the second-largest Russian airline after Aeroflot. Headquartered in Novosibirsk, it operates a fleet of narrowbody aircraft belonging to Airbus A320, Boeing 737 and Embraer E-Jet families.
Excluding the European Union, which closed its airspace to Russian airlines, S7 conducted flights to China, South Korea, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, United Arab Emirates and Egypt.
The airline has not announced the reason behind the decision to stop all international flights.
