For the first time in 12 years, Australia will host Air Race World Championship events in November 2022.

After a two-year hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Air Race World Championship will return in 2022. The championship was initiated by Red Bull in 2003 but will come back with a new sponsor.

In these competitions, pilots fly their race planes through 25-meter-high air-filled pylons, at speeds of up to 370 kilometers per hour (230 miles per hour).

The first competition is due to happen between July 9 and 10, 2022, at Goodwood in West Sussex, England.

In November 2022, Australia will also be hosting several races. The last Air Race World Championship to take place in Australia was in Perth, back in 2010.

“I’m delighted to announce that we have signed these agreements to race in Australia for the 2022 Air Race Season, with options for 2023 and 2024,” said Nalin Jay, CEO of Air Race. “Australia will provide a stunning backdrop for the Air Race and fans are expected to come from all over the world to watch what is still the fastest motorsport in the world.”
