Airbus vs Boeing: orders and deliveries in Q1 2022 | Data

Airbus and Boeing have announced their orders and deliveries for the first quarter of 2022. But which company led the way during the first three months of 2022?

In terms of aircraft deliveries, Airbus surpassed Boeing, having delivered approximately 50 aircraft more than Boeing.

Airbus has delivered 140 aircraft across 48 customers during the first quarter of 2022. However, it is worth noting that Airbus was unable to deliver two Airbus A350-900s to Aeroflot due to international sanctions imposed on Russia in the wake of the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

Airbus deliveries comprised 58 Airbus A321neos, 49 A320neos, 14 Airbus A350s, 11 Airbus A220s, six Airbus A330s, two Airbus A319s.

Meanwhile, Boeing delivered a total of 95 aircraft in Q1 2022. Boeing’s deliveries were made up of 86 Boeing 737s, five Boeing 767s, three Boeing 777s, and one Boeing 747.

In terms of gross orders, Airbus has also clearly surpassed Boeing in Q1 2022.

While Airbus won 253 gross orders, with a net total of 83 after cancellations, Boeing received just 167 aircraft orders.

Airbus’ order book included 88 Airbus A320neo, 83 A321neo, 72 A220, seven A350F, and three A330 gross orders.

However, the manufacturer recorded 63 cancellations for its A321neo and 17 cancellations for the A320neo. The European aircraft manufacturer also documented a cancellation of 83 Airbus A330s. This reduction came as a result of restructuring by one of its customers, AirAsia X. According to a report by Reuters, AirAsia X cancelled 63 A330-900s and 10 A321neos during its restructuring process.

In January 2022, Airbus also revoked two Airbus A350-1000 orders for Qatar Airways amid the long-running dispute c concerning flaws on the surface of its A350s. Airbus also reported 50 Airbus A321neos cancellations.

Boeing’s gross order book consisted of 134 Boeing 737 MAXs, 19 Boeing 777 freighters, and 14 Boeing 777X aircraft.
