IAG, the owner of British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus and Vueling, is boosting its fleet with new A320 aircraft.
The airline group is converting 14 options for A320neo family aircraft, dating from August 2013, into firm orders for 11 A320neos and three A321neos.
The aircraft will be delivered in 2024 and 2025, replacing older generation A320 aircraft, IAG said in a statement on June 30, 2022.
“These modern, more fuel-efficient aircraft will bring both cost efficiencies and environmental benefits to IAG airlines,” the group said in the brief statement.
The airline group has made several fleet announcements in recent months. In March 2022, it converted eight A320neo family options for six A320neos and two A321neos.
In May 2022, it finally acted on a tentative deal for Boeing 737 MAX aircraft that had first been proposed in 2019, by announcing it would order 50 new 737 MAX aircraft with options for another 100.
