Love is, quite literally, in the air after Uganda Airlines announced the launch of Sky Celebrations, a service offering weddings, marriage proposals, bridal showers, and other festivities at 35,000 feet.
The announcement was made at the Bride and Groom Expo at Lugogo in Uganda’s capital Kampala on July 31, 2022.
The airline’s CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki said that Sky Celebrations is a unique way for couples to celebrate milestones such as weddings, proposals, anniversaries, and other events on air.
“Sky Celebrations and Sky Weddings are about moving from the ordinary way of celebrating relationship milestones to a very unique choice of taking your party from the ground to the clouds,” Bamuturaki said to local media.
Bamuturaki added: “Imagine celebrating your nuptials aboard an aircraft, with your newly-wed on your most auspicious occasion, taking a tour to the Pearl of Africa, with the best in-flight hospitality, among friends and family.”
While further details about how to book or plan such milestones are not yet available on the carrier’s website, local media New Vision said Uganda Airlines can wed couples “in Dubai, Mombasa, Zanzibar, Dar-es Salaam, Entebbe, and Johannesburg”.
