A Qatar Airways Cargo Boeing 777-200F suffered substantial wing damage after colliding with a light pole at Chicago-O’Hare International Airport (ORD) in the United States.

The incident occurred on August 5, 2022, after the aircraft, registered A7-BFH, had carried out flight QR8141 from Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) to Chicago. While taxiing after landing on runway 10C, the right wing of the aircraft crashed into the pole.

“Qatar Airways can confirm that a cargo aircraft, QR8141 operating from Atlanta to Chicago, came into contact with a light post while taxiing at Chicago O’Hare and sustained some damage to the wing,” a Qatar Airways spokesperson told AeroTime. ”The incident is currently under investigation and we can confirm that no crew members were injured.”

A picture shared on social media showed that the pole became deeply embedded into the leading edge of the wing.
