Passenger dies after being found ‘unresponsive’ on Kenya Airways JFK-NBO flight

Kenya Airways has confirmed that a passenger who was found unresponsive aboard flight KQ003, operating from New York to Nairobi, Kenya, has died.   

The airline said that the incident took place on August 22, 2022, according to a statement released on Twitter. 

The flight was diverted to Casablanca, Morocco for “a medical emergency after a passenger was taken ill,” the statement continued. 

“On arrival in Casablanca, medical personnel at the airport found the passenger unresponsive and was confirmed to have passed away,” the airline said.  

The cause of death was not disclosed in the statement.  

According to FlightRadar data, flight KQ003 was initially scheduled to arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi Kenya at 10.30 am on August 22, 2022. However, after the diversion to Casablanca, the flight arrived in Nairobi approximately eight hours later at 18.47.
