Ethiopian Airlines (EA) has announced the completion of the first phase of its five-star Ethiopian Skylight In-Terminal Hotel at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, with 41 rooms available for guests.

The hotel is physically connected to Addis Ababa Bole International Departure Terminal 02 with a short walking distance from departure gate, the airline said in a statement released on September 13, 2022.

The airline added that construction of the hotel “takes transit at Addis Ababa to the next level”, catering to both passengers and flight crews.

“The extensive Ethiopian network brings millions of passengers through Addis Ababa each year. As a customer-focused airline, we want our passengers to enjoy every minute they spend with us, even their transit hours at the airport,” Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said.

Second five-star luxury hotel in four years

The in-terminal hotel is the second five-star hotel to be opened by Ethiopian Airlines during the past four years.

On January 28, 2019, the airline announced the opening of its new ‘Ethiopian Skylight Hotel’, which, according to local media reports, was estimated to have cost up to $65 million.

Construction on the second hotel – Skylight In-Terminal Hotel – began nearly two years later, in December 2020, and is part of a two-phased project, the airline added.

The Ethiopian Skylight In-Terminal Hotel will be managed by the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel.
