Australian carriers Qantas and Virgin Australia have launched the sale of Pride Flight tickets for Sydney WorldPride 2023.

WorldPride is one of the biggest global LGBTQ+ events and occurs every few years. Much like the Olympics, cities vie to be the host for the popular international event.

WorldPride 2023 will take place in Sydney from February 17 until March 5, 2023.

Qantas is the official partner of Sydney WorldPride and, as part of the celebration, it will fly members of the American LGBTQI+ community to Australia on its WorldPride flight on February 22, 2023.

Virgin Australia-operated Pride Flight services will be hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under stars Coco Jumbo, Karen from Finance, Kween Kong and Maxi Shield, along with other leading Australian drag talents.

Australian comedian Joel Creasey will be hosting the in-flight entertainment, and passengers will be treated to limited edition ‘Rainbow Roo’ Qantas pajamas designed specifically for the flight.

Renowned Australian chef and Qantas food, beverage and service director Neil Perry will also curate a menu just for the flight.

Passengers on the flight will also receive a general admission ticket to the Live and Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert featuring a special guest performance by Kylie Minogue.

“Supporting the LGBTQI+ community is part of the Qantas spirit and this flight will be operated by members of the Qantas Illuminate network, a community of Qantas LGBTQ+ employees and their allies,” Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said to Australian media.

Meanwhile, Virgin Australia has partnered with United Airlines to operate Pride Flight services from San Francisco to Sydney.
