Ground crew at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Germany have found a body in the landing gear of a Lufthansa A340 aircraft, according to police.

The Airbus aircraft arrived at Germany’s largest airport on October 27, 2022, from Tehran, the Iranian capital. The identity of the man has not been revealed, according to local reports, and police have not yet provided any further details of the incident.

As a result of the discovery, Lufthansa (LHAB) (LHA) canceled two flights to Tehran the next day, while subsidiary Austrian canceled another.

The airline group is currently considering the status of future flights, a company spokesperson told German news agency dpa.

Instances of people trying to stowaway in aircraft landing gear are sadly not uncommon. However, it is rare for people to survive the journey, given the cold temperatures and lack of oxygen at altitude.
