The Minister of Transportation and Road Safety in Israel has confirmed the launch of a new international airline in 2024.

Miri Regev announced on September 19, 2023, that she had signed a commercial license for a new Israeli airline ‘Air Haifa’.

According to news organization N12, the new carrier has been authorized to operate commercial flights to Eilat in Israel, Cyprus, Greece, and Turkey. The flights will take-off from Haifa Airport in Northern Israel (HFA).

International flights from HFA have only recently restarted after a four-year break. Arkia and Israir Airlines already operate from the airport.

The Jerusalem Post reported earlier in 2023 that the cost of travelling from Haifa to Cyprus was nearly double the price compared with flights from Tel Aviv on that route.

It is hoped that the launch of Air Haifa from Haifa to Cyprus will cause the price of tickets to fall due to the increased competition.

Details surrounding the launch of a new Israeli airline began circulating in July 2023

“In order to increase competition and connectivity within Israel and beyond. I signed a commercial license to a new Israeli airline – ‘Air Haifa’. What is left is to wish a safe and pleasant flight,” Regev wrote on social media.
