Beond, the new luxury airline based in the Maldives, announced it has closed a new $13 million pre-Series A funding round to continue rolling out its expansion plan.

This new capital injection adds to a previous $17 million pre-seed round, which was closed in August 2023, and which was oversubscribed, the company said in an announcement on December 6, 2023.

Beond launched its first scheduled flights in November 2023, linking Munich (MUC) and Zürich (ZRH) to Male (MLE), in the Maldives, with a short stopover in Riyadh (RUH), Saudi Arabia.

While the airline operates a single Airbus A319 aircraft with a specially configured, all-business class cabin fitted with 68 seats, the startup’s business plan envisions a 32-strong fleet within five years. Beond is also expecting some larger A321 aircraft in the near future.

In order to fulfill this vision, Beond will need additional capital and has announced the launch of a $25 million Series A funding round to raise fresh investment.
