British Airways Airbus A380, flying on route from San Francisco (SFO) to London (LHR) declared an emergency while flying over Northern Ireland.

The pilots started broadcasting an emergency code 7700 at approximately 2:16 PM GMT on February 12, 2023, Flightradar24 data shows

The code was changed again roughly ten minutes later. The flight proceeded as normal and landed at London Heathrow (LHR) at 3:15 PM GMT.

According to Aviationsourcenews, the landing runway was changed for the flight, meaning that pilots likely requested a priority landing.

A short while later Airlive reported that the emergency was declared due to a passenger who was “feeling unwell”. The nature of the emergency was confirmed by several other media outlets referring to sources close to the matter.

Neither LHR nor British Airways issued a statement regarding the event. AeroTime reached out to the companies and is waiting to hear back.
