Two passengers have been injured on a British Airways flight bound for St. Lucia’s Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) after a fight broke out onboard the Boeing 777 aircraft.

The incident occurred about six hours into a flight from London Gatwick Airport (LGW), a couple of hours prior to landing.

St. Lucian news outlet The Loop reported that an altercation occurred between two passengers, with one said to have smashed a bottle of wine in the galley and used it as a weapon.

A third passenger tried to diffuse the situation, only to sustain deep cuts during the scuffle. The good Samaritan in question was diabetic and received immediate care from a nurse onboard the flight.

All three passengers involved in the fight were taken to a local hospital as soon as the plane landed in St. Lucia.

The wine bottle-wielding passenger has been taken into police custody.
