A Boeing CH-47F Chinook helicopter operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) crashed in Ontario on June 20, 2023.

The crash took place during a training flight near the Ottawa River, close to Garrison Petawawa, shortly after midnight. The aircraft belonged to the 450 Tactical Helicopter.

“First responders are currently on the scene,” the RCAF said in a tweet. “The RCAF is involved in a search for two missing members of 450 THS.”

Two other people involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The CH-47F Chinook helicopter (or CH-147F in Canada) is primarily used by the RCAF for the tactical transportation of troops, cargo, and equipment.
