easyJet selects CFM engine to power upcoming Airbus A320neo family aircraft

easyJet has stuck to what it knows best and placed an order with old friends CFM to power its next generation of Airbus A320neo-family aircraft. 

easyJet and CFM confirmed on January 24, 2024, that the low-cost carrier has purchased 314 CFM LEAP-1A engines for its firm order of 157 Airbus aircraft.  

The aircraft order, announced in December 2023, comprises 56 A320neos and 101 A321neos with deliveries expected between 2029 and 2034. 

The agreement between easyJet and CFM also includes spare engines and a fixed price on 200 more engines should the carrier activate an option on 100 more planes with Airbus.  

The new agreement continues the long-standing partnership between easyJet and CFM which has been in place since 1995.  

easyJet’s entire current fleet is powered by CFM engines which includes 257 Airbus A320ceos powered by CFM56-5B engines and 69 A320neos with LEAP-1A engines.

The agreements for new aircraft and engines form part of easyJet’s fleet renewal and upgauging plan but also bring with them cost benefits and sustainability improvements to the business.
